Is 2014 the year of the smartwatch? Although there have been several models already, the one so far from Samsung and others have not been that attractive. They look more like scaled down smartphones than watches. Watches have to look good or people won't wear them and Motorola seems to have nailed it with its Moto 360 smartwatch.
This device looks like a watch should. It's not a dull rectangular slab on your wrist, it is a sleek and smart watch. And it's round! That one feature alone makes it look like an ordinary watch and it makes a huge difference.
It looks like a watch, but it can actually offer useful functions such as alerts and notifications. With a flick of the wrist you can see who is emailing you or calling you.
The Moto 360 can also show you directions, probably tying in with Google Maps on your phone. You can say "OK Google" and ask questions and it will respond with the answers you need, send a text, set an alarm or create a note.
The Motorola 360 is promised for summer 2014 and makes use of Google's Android Wear. This is code that can be embedded in wearable devices, such as watches, and it is set to be the next big thing in mobile computing.
